Tareq Ahmed Salah Uddin Khan is an accomplished SME Sector Specialist and Management Consultant with over two decades of professional experience in SME development, project and grant administration, financial sector advisory, and stakeholder engagement. His career reflects a consistent ability to manage complex programs and deliver value-driven outcomes for development partners, government institutions, financial organizations, and private sector clients.

Mr. Khan has been actively involved in the implementation of World Bank–funded initiatives, notably the Skills Voucher Program and the Export Readiness Fund, where he served as Grant Officer. In these roles, he was responsible for the evaluation and screening of grant applications, conducting technical and financial appraisals, ensuring compliance with program guidelines, and providing structured support to grantees throughout the project lifecycle.

He has also served as Project Administrator for an IDCOL-managed Green Climate Fund (GCF) program, supporting the coordination and execution of project activities focused on energy 
efficiency and climate resilience. His responsibilities included facilitating energy audits, coordinating with financial institutions, and strengthening the capacity of Ready-Made Garment (RMG) units to adopt energy-efficient technologies in line with international best practices.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Khan held senior leadership positions within the financial sector, including Vice President at Union Capital Ltd. and Head of SME at National Finance Ltd. In these capacities, he led SME strategy development, product design, policy formulation, and institutional stakeholder engagement, contributing to portfolio growth, risk management enhancement, and organizational development.

Mr. Khan’s consulting experience encompasses feasibility studies, enterprise development programs, SME capacity-building initiatives, and sector reform assignments with reputable national and international organizations, including SME Foundation, UNICO Japan, and NIRAS Denmark. His work is characterized by a strong analytical orientation and a pragmatic approach to translating policy and strategy into implementable solutions.

He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Management Consultants Bangladesh (IMCB) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Consulting. In addition, he has completed a range of specialized professional training programs across Asia, covering areas such as SME risk management, entrepreneurship development, project appraisal, and development finance.

Mr. Khan brings a balanced combination of strategic insight, operational expertise, and stakeholder management capability, enabling him to operate effectively across public, private, and development sectors. His professional focus remains on advancing sustainable SME growth, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting inclusive economic development initiatives.
